Important Changes in Traffic Pattern!
Beginning January 6, 2014 there will be a change in the traffic pattern with the bus lane behind R.J. Richey Elementary that runs from FM 963 to Third Street.
The road was originally designed to facilitate the efficent and safe movement of the District's bus fleet, It is also a convenient path for parents, students and community members. The challenge with the bus drive is that it is not wide enough along its entire length to accommodate two-way traffic. The narrow road has presented a safety issue, especially in the mornings and afternoons when the busses are running their routes.
Beginning Monday, January 6th, 2014 the bus drive will not be open to any through traffic except busses between the hours of 7-8 a.m. and 2:30-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Thank you for your support and assistance with this change.

News from Burnet High School - Principal Mark Kincaid
The school year is off to a great start at BHS. We have the finest students on the earth. Every family should be proud to have raised such courteous, polite and enthusiastic kids. Each and every one of them is a pleasure to work with. While it has been a great start to the new year, there have been a few glitches that I thought I would tell you about.
Air Conditioning - Several air conditioning units were not working just before school started and at least one more after the start of school. District maintenance staff is working diligently to make repairs. Additionally, we have moved some classes to more comfortable rooms.
Fencing - I am sure most of you have seen the new fencing and heard about our new School Resource Officer on campus. Both are efforts to increase the safety and security of everyone on campus.
School Messenger - Our phone call out system, School Messenger, is not operating at this time. We are updating all contact information for each student. Until that project is complete, we cannot make our phone "callouts". Thank you for your patience.
VSI Parent Portal - VSI is changing to TxConnect. It too is going through a radical updating process and is not quite ready for parent use. We apologize for the wait, but we are excited to have the new system coming soon.
Lunch Schedule - I know your students have come home talking about the "one lunch" schedule at BHS. We are diligently monitoring lunch lines and seating daily. Most days all serving lines are empty with 25-30 minutes left in the lunch period. Even though the waiting line may be empty, students can access all food items until the bell rings at the end of the lunch period. Seating is always available. Students may not be able to sit exactly where they would like, but ample seating is available. Additionally, we have bad weather contingency plans to open the gym foyer and, if necessary, the visitor side of the gym to ensure adequate inside seating.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me at
Have a Great Bulldog Day!
